  • Encourage the behaviors we want to occur again in the future.

  • Harness the influence of students who are showing expected behaviors to encourage the students who are not.

  • Minimize disruption to learning and allow for maximum learning opportunities.

ABOUT PBIS

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
It is a process which focuses on improving our school's ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. PBIS includes school-wide methods and practices intended for all students and staff to build a positive school culture. It is a team-based process for systematic problem solving, planning, and assessment. This approach creates a safe and productive learning environment for teachers and students with few disruptions.

PBIS helps students understand what is expected of them, gives teachers a framework for acknowledgement and consequences and enables administrators to use data –rather than gut reactions – to make decisions about discipline. (Wisconsin PBIS Network)

Why PBIS at Woodland?

The purpose of implementing PBIS at Woodland Elementary School is to continually teach our community expectations in order to increase social competencies that support and maximize learning. At Woodland Elementary, we call these expectations "The Woodland Way". They connect to the Kimberly Area School District's community values and are consistent throughout all school environments. These environments include: hallways, playground, lunch room, bathrooms, and the classroom. You will see these expectations posted throughout the school.  Your child will be learning them during his or her first days at school and refreshed throughout the school year.

Our school-wide Woodland Way expectations are as follows:
1. Respect
2. Honesty
3. Responsibility
4. ï»¿Kindness
